The statuary from the northwest region of the middle Benoué, from the Kona Jukun, to the Mumuye and up to the Wurkun populations is distinguished by a certain sobriety, marked by the absence of ornamentation and a minimalist stylization. The 100,000 speakers of the Adamawa language form a group called Mumuye, organized in villages, called dola, divided into two main groups: those of fire (tjokwa), associated with blood and the color red, and who are the guardians of the vabong cult, from among whom the chiefs are elected; and those of water (tjozoza), linked to humidity and the color white. It is from this last group that the rain priests are chosen, initiated into the vadosong cult.
