Mathurin Moreau's works for sale were so highly sought after that they remained available long after his death in 1912.His training began with his father and the renowned French sculptor Jean-Baptiste, and continued at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1841. His sculptures earned him the second Grand Prix de Rome in 1842 and international recognition at the Salon and the Exposition Universelle in the following decades. Mathurin Moreau's sculptures are exhibited throughout Paris, including Oceania at the Musée d'Orsay and Cologne at the Gare du Nord.Moreau's bronzes are exhibited in museums around the world
