Model known as "Salvador Rosa" Total dimensions: 57 x 48 cm. Panel alone: 34 x 26 cm The theme of the Crucifixion has been treated many times in painting and throughout Europe since the Middle Ages. Our painting, by its dimensions and refinement, was intended for a private oratory, Christ in the center, is crucified on Mount Golgota; Surrounded by Mary and Saint John. The sky has darkened over a vigorously brushed landscape in the background and a city is suggested, probably Jerusalem. Good condition. Sold with certificate.
