Born in Madrid on August 11, 1942, he died in Rennes on July 9, 2019. In 1956, he joined his father, a Republican who had fled the Franco regime in 1947, in Rennes, where he spent most of his life. After studying at the École Régionale des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, he graduated in painting in 1962. He founded the Atelier des Trois with his brother Antonio and his sister-in-law Clotilde Vautier, also painters, and exhibited together in numerous Breton galleries from the 1960s. Mariano Otero continued to paint until the end of his life, exhibiting in France, Spain and many countries around the world. From 1992, .
