Decorated around the base with a shield bearing the coat of arms of the city of Nancy accompanied by the motto "Qui s'y frotte s'y pique". On one side of the basin, a crowing rooster perched on an oak branch in front of a rising sun is highlighted with the legend "Vigilat", on the other a heraldic alerion is surmounted by a Cross of Lorraine.
