Object description :

"Modenese Chest Of Drawers In Walnut And Olive Wood – Modena, First Half Of The 18th Century"
Elegant bombe chest of drawers from the refined Emilian production of the 18th century, likely crafted in the Modena area and dating to the first half of the century. The piece is distinguished by its sculptural shape, with undulating front and sides, and softly curved, mixtilinear legs.
It is veneered in walnut and olive wood, featuring an exquisite decoration of geometric reserves with fine inlays, which enhance the richness of the wood grain and showcase the artisan’s mastery of marquetry. The front includes three large drawers and a smaller drawer discreetly set beneath the top, all perfectly integrated into the overall design.
The construction quality, the choice of woods, and the precision of the inlay suggest a work attributable to the renowned and well-documented Modenese cabinetmaking tradition, as referenced in major texts on 18th-century Emilian furniture. This is not only a decorative piece, but also a significant example of the stylistic evolution from Baroque to Rococo.
