"Silver-plated Bronze Sun Monstrance, France Circa 1800"
Silver-plated bronze sun monstrance, composed of several elements assembled by screwing. The base, rectangular pyramidal in shape, rests on four feet. The faces are decorated with a cross on a radiant background on the front, and the Trinitarian triangle in a cloud on the reverse. The lateral sides feature stylized bunches of grapes. The shaft, screwed onto the pedestal, is decorated with sheaves of wheat at its summit and supports a radiant glory made up of cut-out rays of light. In its center, a lunette surrounded by clouds on a guilloché background. At the rear, a hinged portico opens to allow the insertion of a lunula intended to display the host. French work, late 18th century, circa 1800. Silver-gilt lunula, from a later period, adapted to this monstrance. It is fitted with beveled glasses and signed by Favier Frères. Minerva hallmark. Dimensions: Height: 42.3 cm Base: 13.7 × 8 cm Length of the sun: 18 cm General condition: good, with traces of use. Note: some cracks on the body, slight tilt of the whole, front glass replaced. The monstrance is solid, stable and ready for use.
