"Louis XV Rocaille Style Center Table, Second Half Of The 19th Century. "
Large and very decorative carved oak center table, "hunting table" type, richly decorated in the Rocaille style, it can be placed in a living room or in a large vestibule. This fretwork model presents a great elegance of lines and balance, a remarkable quality of sculpture testifying to a true know-how, with deeply worked motifs: shells, acanthus leaves, florets, foliage and plant scrolls are here finely executed, in a very lively and decorative composition specific to the Rocaille ornamentation of the first half of the 18th century. The strongly curved belt crosspieces, the well-arched legs, finished with scrolls underline the care taken with every detail. The whole is painted in a soft shade with a beautiful patina, which reveals the grain of the oak and enhances the volumes of the sculpture. This table is topped with its period marble, a thick and molded breccia, perfectly adjusted to its top. The marble has undergone an old restoration (crack glued back together with reinforcement), very discreet and without impact on the aesthetics or solidity of the whole.
