Object description :

"Abel Faivre - Young Woman With A Hat - "
Abel Faivre, born in Lyon on March 30, 1867 and died in Nice on August 13, 1945, was a French painter, poster artist, lithographer, illustrator and caricaturist. Oil on canvas mounted on strong cardboard, on the back an annotation of an exhibition in 1917 at the Georges Petit gallery. Georges Petit, born in Paris on March 11, 1856 where he died on May 12, 1920, was a French gallery owner and art dealer active in Paris from 1881 until his death in 1920, when his gallery was taken over by Bernheim-Jeune. He was one of the key figures in the art market of his time in Paris with his great rival Durand-Ruel, and to a lesser extent, competing with Louis Adolphe Beugniet, Charles Sedelmeyer and Goupil & Cie in the field of modern painting, one of the main promoters of painters impressionists.
