"Silver Chalice, Portugal, Mid-19th Century "
Tulip-shaped silver chalice with embossed and chiseled decoration. The chalice rests on an eight-sided, stepped foot decorated with a frieze of heart-shaped ray-shaped flowers. The terrace forms a pedestal decorated with garlands of drapery, surrounding, on one side, an animal hanging from a tree. It has a baluster grip knot decorated with a rosette of lanceolate leaves, repeating the same decoration as that of the terrace, also visible on the saucer. The cup, flared in its upper part, is entirely gilded. Portuguese work from the mid-19th century. 800/1000 silver, hallmarks visible on the foot, the cup and the saucer. Master goldsmith's mark with the initials RG.
