"Pair Of Silver Candlesticks, France Circa 1815, Empire Period "
Pair of silver candlesticks resting on a flat circular base, decorated on the periphery with a frieze of flowers on the ogee and highlighted by a slight central depression. The central pedestal, decorated with a frieze of water leaves, supports a hexagonal columnar shaft widening slightly towards the top. The sides of the shaft are finely engraved with aquatic plant motifs, and the base rests on sculpted faun legs in its lower part. A ring chased with a frieze of water encircles the base of the socket, which takes the form of a Medici vase, decorated with fan-shaped gadroons and water leaves. The two candlesticks are accompanied by their original bobèches. French work circa 1815 Solid silver 950/1000 Paris guarantee hallmarks (1809–1819) on both pieces Rooster hallmark (1809–1819) present on one bobèche Master goldsmith hallmarks: Hoguet Marguerite (Paraud Pierre, widow), specialized in church goldsmithing, hallmark inscribed in Paris circa 1811 Dimensions: Height: 27 cm Diameter of the base: 13 cm Total weight: 1,012 g Condition: Very good condition / no deformations or shocks / Note: an old restoration on one of the bobèches.
