Head of Victoire Tranchart etched by Jean-Paul Laurens. This print is part of a collection published by Alfred Cadart's widow in 1877, bringing together 30 etchings by the most distinguished artists. A difficult subject, proofs of this print are found in the greatest museums (Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, British Museum in London, Museum of Art and History in Geneva, Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco, Rodin Museum dedicated to Auguste Rodin. Ours is framed in its molded oak frame and with its original glass, it has numerous stains and a poorly restored tear at the bottom. It is on laid paper and measures 28x20cm on the plate. It is signed with the monogram in the plate at the bottom left by Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921), an artist from Toulouse and representative of history painting under the Third Republic.
