Baccarat, Circa 1880, Museum: Glass Project For Russia, 18cm

Amazing large stemmed glass, 18cm x 9cm crystal, weight: 400g, a masterpiece of grinding, whose structure in spaced bands and shape of foot were taken up (in a lighter version), by Baccarat factory in the famous Condé model service, intended for Tsar Nicholas II, circa 1897. Deep cut, with several fine grinding wheels, in thickness of crystal, (5mm), the decoration uses multiple crosspieces distributed in bands spaced between hatched bevels to reflect light.
Ringed leg, which conceals a drop-shaped bubble, is cut of 6 flat ribs and hatched angles.
Foot is extraordinary: flat polished ontop, shape of rosette, underside is entirely engraved and uses its flower shape to magnify engraving of crosspieces, distributed in 8 triangles held in a star with hatched bevels.
I don't know how long it took the engraver to achieve this feat.
