sublime pair of Hasselt ewers with its flamed and glazed glass colors. Gilt bronze mount with dragon motif. Very large size. Hasselt (capital of the Belgian province of Limburg) makes us all associate it with #gin and #speculaas... but much less with #ceramics. However, from 1895 to 1953, ceramics of exceptional quality were produced there. The 'Manufacture de Céramiques Décoratives de Hasselt', also known as 'Majoliques de Hasselt', actually originated from the old Hasselt porcelain factory 'Porcelaines du Limbourg'... which existed only for a short time, from 1890 to 1893.
