José María García Fernández, better known as José María Castilviejo, is a Spanish painter who worked with different techniques (oil, watercolor, engraving, drawing) and on a wide range of subjects (he is best known for his portraits, still lifes, and landscapes). According to critics, his work is known for its fusion of the traditional and the contemporary, which is reflected in the deep existence of the community. Recognized by awards such as the Castilla y León de las Artes (2002), his work is preserved in private collections and institutions such as the Robinson and Rostchild Collections, the New York Museum of Art, the Universidad Laboral de Zamora, etc. -
