Gaston Cantin, after studying at the Beaux-Arts in Poitiers, became a drawing teacher and taught first in Limoges and then in Antibes. He retired to Bignoux. The work is not signed but bears the painter's monogram stamp. It comes from a lot at the Poitiers auction house: 5 canvases without stretchers. Our work has been stretched on a new stretcher.
