18th-century Venetian gondola chair with original polychrome.
As still, the Gondola was used as a daily means of transport in Venice for centuries. In the 18th century, the elite used this and thus had themselves transported to their destinations. This type of chair was intended for an important person and he/she could place his/her important belongings in the compartment under the seat during the trip.
Beautiful paintings on the back and sides. Among others, Angels, Geese and Flowers.
Upholstered in the original leather. We have left this as is in the context of originality. But could also have it reupholstered in leather if desired, or try to find a suitable address for leather restoration.
Finished all round with decorative nails.
