Large sculpture with brown patina representing Mercury* his right arm is raised towards the sky and he holds a caduceus in his left hand. Resting on the tip of his toe, he is projected by the winds of the god Aeolus. He leaps onto a black marble pedestal decorated with putti performing in their workshop. Very fine quality of carving. 19th century period. The original work, dating from 1580, is kept at the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence, Italy. In perfect condition.*Mercury, God of commerce and messenger of the gods, he is often represented on the tip of his toe, on the verge of breaking his balance.
