Bronze statuette representing Hercules, after a model by Nicolò Roccatagliata.
Venice, early 17th century.
Height of the bronze: 26.5 cm
Total height: 41.5 cm
In good condition, without restoration or accident, very beautiful patina. Mounted on a 19th century marble base, some chips on the lower edges.
Several versions of this Hercules are kept in museums (La Spezia, Metropolitan Museum of Art...), the most beautiful known example is undoubtedly the one kept in the collections of the KMH: https://www.khm.at/kunstwerke/statuette-kleinbronze-herkules-herakles-91731
