Ferdinando Vichi (1875-1941) is an Italian sculptor from Florence. Coming from a noble family, he is one of the talented Tuscan sculptors associated with the Bazzanti Gallery in Florence. He is well known for his sculptures worked mainly in marble and alabaster. Passionate about art since childhood, Ferdinando Vichi entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence under the direction of Augusto Rivalta and Cesare Zocchi, where he won numerous prizes. While still very young, Vichi exhibited one of his works, "The Bather", at the Paris Salon, which was then awarded a prize. He then went to work in Germany, England, the Americas and even India. International critics spoke highly of the young Vichi. Ferdinand VICHI was a major figure in the production of the great sculptors of the late 19th century in Italy, such as Cesare LAPINI, Pietro BAZZANTI and Guglielmo PUGGI, who executed works at the Galleria BAZZANTI in Florence. The latter, the studio of the sculptor of the same name, was inaugurated in 1822. Subjects from classical or orientalist antiquity, even neo-Renaissance, were their favorite subjects, because the historicization of romantic antiquity was very fashionable at that time. He received, among other things, the Grand Prix and the Gold Medal in various Italian exhibitions (Venice and Livorno among others). In 1907 he was made a knight of the kingdom.
