Provençal Chest Of Drawers In Solid Walnut From Nîmes, Louis XV Period

Elegant curved chest of drawers in solid walnut, typical of the Nîmes region in the 18th century, during the reign of Louis XV. This regional piece of furniture opens with two large drawers on the front, richly carved with leafy scrolls and rocaille motifs in relief, framing large original bronze handles and cut-out keyholes.

The openwork lower crosspiece, carved with asymmetrical rocaille motifs, extends elegantly on the sides, highlighting the refined work of the decoration. The rounded uprights are finely molded with a groove and descend into cambered feet ending in a scroll, characteristic of Provençal furniture of this period.

The corbin-shaped top, mounted with keys, is original. The drawer bottoms and interiors are made of pine, as is the back panel. Louis XV period furniture, authentic Nîmes work, combining a robust structure, high quality carving and a refinement specific to 18th century Provençal productions.
