"China - Terracotta Dancer - Sichuan Province - Han Dynasty - Tl"
A beautiful, tall dancer from the Chinese province of Sichuan, cast in red terracotta. This is a classic Sichuan Han subject, full of life, humor, and movement. The face, with its typical, almost haunting and mysterious smile, is characteristic. But equally characteristic is the sculptor's taste for vivid individuality. This is evident in the dancer's robust movements, as she leans to the right, raises her hands in a dance-like motion, and her knees bulge through her skirt. The foot is only a hint, but we know it's there because it peeks out from the hem. The dancer wears a double-breasted dress with full, embroidered sleeves (which appear in the detailed illustration as slightly wavy sleeves. The raised arm shows long sleeves. The headdress is covered with a central flower. Very good condition. Traces of roots. A thermoluminescence test from the Re.S.Artes Laboratory accompanies the object to authenticate its dating. Origin: China. Period: Han Dynasty (209 BC - 220) - Sichuan Province (25 - 190). Dimensions: Height: 49 cm; width 27 cm. Conditions; Very good condition.
