"19th Century Impressionist Painting...women On A Terrace In The South...monogram Js?"
Beautiful impressionist painting from the end of the 19th century or the beginning of 1900 which represents two young women sitting on a sunny terrace with a Mediterranean landscape on the horizon reminiscent of Sainte-Victoire ... The painting is signed lower left with the monogram "JS" / see details in the photos: on a technical level, it is a remarkably well-crafted painting. Indeed, the touch here is not that of the painters of the Provençal school but rather that of an early impressionist: this lead is all the more attractive since the women's clothing is that which was observed at the end of the 19th century in the paintings of Claude Monet (1840-1926) or Berthe Morisot (1841-1895). Note: this is a work that has never been examined by an expert, but its beautiful quality would merit serious investigations to try to identify its author: the author is not necessarily an impressionist French because we also find this luminous touch in artists like Joaquin Sorolla or John Singer Sargent, to cite here artists whose monogram is not very far away!? - some old repaintings, visible under Wood's lamp, without consequence on the quality of the work - Panel size (thick rigid cardboard): 36 cm x 26 cm Frame (recent): 53 cm x 44 cm - ask me for other photos if necessary -
