Jean_Baptiste Baujault, born in La Crèche on April 19, 1828 and died in the same town on November 27, 1889, was a French sculptor. He enrolled at the Niort School of Fine Arts where he made a name for himself. Admitted to the Beaux Arts in Paris in 1852, he studied there under François Jouffroy and left the school in 1856. He exhibited regularly at the Salon until 1896. He was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1880.
