"Bust Of An Emperor In Agate And Silver, Italy, 19th Century"
Small bust representing a Roman emperor crowned with laurel, made of agate finely carved in relief and in the round. The silver mount retains its original antique patina, never cleaned, revealing in places the vestiges of gilding.
Presented on a hexalobed crystal base, not original.
Italian work from the Neoclassical period, early 19th century.
Beautiful quality of execution, excellent condition except for a very slight chip at the nape of the neck (see images in detail).
Height: 6.2 cm (10.5 cm with the base).
