"Clock Portico "return To Egypt" Empire Mougin"
Empire style portico clock, return from Egypt, Napoleon III period
circa 1880. Gilt bronze and patinated bronze, with an Egyptian bust as
columns supporting the white enamel dial protected by glass, adorned at
the top with a triumphant eagle. The space between the columns is
occupied by a sunburst pendulum. Oval base in Siena marble decorated
with a long frieze of foliage and swans drinking from a fountain.
Original mechanism without modification, striking the hours and
half-hours on an antique bell.
