Naval box in burl veneer decorated with brass reinforcements, cartouche blank of any monogram. It is flanked by 2 retractable handles and a high security lock, with trefoil. Work from the Empire period in the style of the productions of Martin Guillaume Biennais, end of the Empire in the 1810s. Beautiful model; the use of solid mahogany the corner reinforcements in cladding are intended to make the box more robust to the falls that could create the rolling on a boat at sea. A refined object adapted to the daily life of a gentleman naval officer. Very good condition, cleaned and revived by our cabinetmaker. No accident, original key and functional lock.
