Elegant Display Shelf In Finely Carved Exotic Wood – Asia, Late 19th Century

Superb oriental shelf in dark wood, probably rosewood or palisander, with rich decoration carved entirely by hand. Each element is adorned with stylized plant motifs - bamboo, foliage, flowers - in a symmetrical composition of great finesse, characteristic of Asian know-how of the end of the 19th century. The piece of furniture presents a refined architecture on multiple levels, with open shelves, small niches, carved drawers and two low doors decorated with bamboo. The openwork pediment, surmounted by pinnacles, crowns the whole with a majestic touch. Ideal as a collector's piece, to display art objects or porcelain. Condition: Very good general condition, beautiful original patina, minor signs of use consistent with age. A rare and decorative piece, imbued with oriental poetry.
