"Bronze Statue Of Guandi. China, Early Ming Dynasty. 16th Century."
The Chinese deity of war is seated. On his robe are depicted the 6 dragons symbolizing luck. Bronze cast using the lost-wax method, Chinese work from the early Ming Dynasty, 15th-16th century. There are traces of red and gold lacquer, but this lacquer was added late, in fact it roughly covers the superbly chiseled patterns of the robe. The lacquer having disappeared, the statue has regained its original splendor. It is very rare to find a statue of Guandi wearing the robe with 6 dragons, and especially of this quality. Very beautiful patina, the feet are missing. The statue is positioned on a simple wooden support. Height 52cm.
