Acoulon & Blondelet violins represent a remarkable example of the excellence of French violin making at the beginning of the 20th century, combining artisanal tradition and industrial innovation. Acoulon & Blondelet is a brand associated with Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (JTL), a leading violin-making workshop based in Mirecourt, France. This collaboration began in 1908 when Hugues-Émile Blondelet (1875–1928), a renowned violin maker, became co-director of JTL alongside Alfred Acoulon. Their joint name appears on high-quality instruments produced by JTL, including models such as the "Sarasate-Artiste," made in the early 20th century. Violins bearing the "Acoulon & Blondelet" label were made primarily between 1908 and the late 1920s. These instruments are distinguished by their transparent orange-brown varnish and their bright, balanced tone. Some models, such as the "Sarasate-Artiste," were intended for advanced players and feature a refined aesthetic.
