Round tortoiseshell box decorated on the lid with a hand-painted miniature representing the double portrait of the young Mary Stuart* of Scotland, wearing a fleur-de-lis crown and a wide lace collar, at the time of her marriage to Francis II (King of France 1559-1560), from the 19th century. This box is in good condition, superb quality. Please note: slight scratches on the tortoiseshell, slight wear of time, see photos. * Mary Stuart or Mary I of Scotland (1542 -1587) executed on the orders of the Queen of England Elizabeth I, was Queen of Scotland from 1542 to 1567. She was the daughter of King James V of Scotland and Mary of Guise, and the great-granddaughter of King Henry VII of England.
