"6 Jacob & Josef Khon Bistro Chairs"
6 Art Nouveau bistro chairs from the 1900s, made of bent and pyrographed beech. All have the intaglio mark of Jacob & Joseph Khon Wien. Solid and in good condition. The decorations may be slightly faded on some seats. Jacob Kohn founded his company in Vienna in 1849, initially specializing in construction timber. In 1867, he joined forces with his son Josef Kohn and focused the company on furniture. The expiration of the Thonet Brothers' patent on the bentwood technique soon allowed them to offer their own product range. With branches in Berlin, Paris, London, and Hamburg, Kohn became one of the leading furniture manufacturers in Austria-Hungary from 1882 onward and was one of the main competitors of the Thonet company.
