Pair of large oval serving trays in purple lacquered sheet metal with antique medallion decoration. Origin France Period 18th Directoire style Models with openwork handles with brass thread. The pair is composed of: - 1 large tray with central decoration showing Aristotle and Alexander with the arms of Thaïs decorated with 8 medallions with various views of castles, cities and landscapes. Dimensions 65x50cm. Used condition with dents, erasures and cracks. - 1 tray with central decoration of a king accompanied by 2 mastiffs decorated with 8 medallions with fable decoration. Dimensions 52x41cm. Used condition with alterations to the decoration on 1 medallion.
