"A Small Marquetry Cylinder Desk"
A small ''cylindrical'' marquetry desk from the late 18th century or early 19th century (circa 1800) in Rosewood, Satinwood and alternating light and dark wood fillets. It opens with three drawers at the bottom, a sliding shelf lined with leather, probably original, three small drawers topped with an inlaid cylinder concealing two drawers and four niches. Topped with its ''white Veined'' Carrara marble, it has its openwork gallery and rests on a ''sheathed'' base finished with gilt bronze sabots.
