"Small Shoulder Mask - Kabuki Theater, Circa 1900"
This grotesque character mask was worn on the shoulder by kabuki actors. This allowed a single actor to play a main role, with his mask, and two shoulder roles. Lacquered wood, restorations (nose forehead chin), shocks, wear, cracks.
