"Louis Pastour (1876-1948) View Of The Cannes Seafront "
Louis Pastour small oil on panel depicting a seafront with sailboats certainly in the vicinity of Cannes as usual The frame has some wear Free delivery Louis Pastour (1876-1948) is a French post-impressionist painter from Cannes. His favorite subjects are landscapes, seascapes and flowers. In 1902, he founded the Association of Fine Arts of Cannes of which he was the general secretary. Through this association, the painters of the region were highlighted by an annual exhibition. In 1912, he traveled and painted in Egypt. In search of new landscapes, he painted in Morocco and Italy but it was to Cannes that he always returned because the city remained his main source of inspiration. Louis Pastour used the knife technique to give life to his works, a painter of light with a total mastery of colors, he observed the light, seemed to capture it, violent in the execution he nervously kneaded the paste, arranged it in mass by the suddenness of frank flat tints thrown with the knife; in this way he created dazzling skies where bright whites, raw yellows, and sanglais vermilions work together wonderfully. Recognized by critics as a poet painter because of the names of poems they gave to his works: Fête de soleil, Reflets d'or, Gloire au matin. In 1928 he was entrusted with the decoration of the lower station of the Super-Cannes funicular, located on a hill in the Californie - Pezou district. Louis Pastour also produced advertising work for the Railways, the PLM (Paris Lyon Méditerranée) diary, and various magazines. His works can be found at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nice, and the National Museum of Art of Romania in Bucharest.
