Object description :

"Antique Minakari, Cup And Dish, Decoration From The Ali Kapu Palace, Isfahan, Iran Circa 1900, Collection"
Deep dish and its bowl or basin in old Minâkâri, ancestral technique of enameling on copper.
These pieces are hand-painted from Isfahan, Iran, from the end of the 19th century or the very beginning of the 20th century.
In very good condition, collection pieces from Iran, Persia.
Very slight lacks on the edges of the dish and the bowl.
A medallion in the center of the dish and the basin, sumptuously decorated by hand with a brush for a work of great finesse. These medallions represent the entrance to the palace of Ali Qapu in Isfahan, the gate of Ali, 17th century, overlooking the Meidân, the great square of Isfahan, not far from its splendid royal mosque which dates back to 1611.
Around a semi of roses on a black background, foliage, birds, in relief around the tray and the basin.
## The palace dates from the beginning of the 17th century.
Its main pavilion has two levels: the ground floor is occupied by a monumental porch followed by a vestibule while the upper floor is a portico with 18 wooden columns decorated with muqarnas capitals which support an inlaid ceiling.
The large covered balcony thus formed served as a royal tribune during the events which took place on the square.
According to legend, Shah Abbas I took the doors of the tomb of Imam Ali in Karbala to install them in this palace, now called Ali Qapu, the door of Ali.
The tray is placed on a white enamelled pedestal like the whole of the reverse.
Dimensions: dish:
Diameter: 30 cm - height: 4.5 cm,
weight: 1048 grs for the two pieces.
Bowl:
diameter: 23.5 cm, height: 12.5 cm.
The last three photos present other objects that we present on Proantic.
## The old Minâkâri are not legion, it is increasingly difficult to find them in good condition.
