"Silver-gilt Chalice, France, Arras, Circa 1800"
Gilt silver chalice, embossed and chased, composed of three screw-assembled elements. It rests on a circular base adorned with a frieze of olive fusarola, enriched on the ogee with floral rosettes. The almost flat base is elegantly decorated with large-scale carvings depicting a cross, bunches of vines, and rushes. The stem features an inverted pear-shaped bow, adorned with garlands of wheat and vines, framed by rosary rings, and topped with a small collar. The cylindrical cup widens toward the top.
Provincial French work — Pas-de-Calais region, Arras, period of manufacture: 1798-1809. 800/1000 silver. Hallmarks: Rooster (on the cup and on the base); master silversmith's mark JFP accompanied by a mark: a bee. Height: 27 cm
