"Horse Pistol — Model Year Ix"
MODEL AN IX PISTOL — CHARLEVILLE MANUFACTURE — EARLY FIRST EMPIRE Superb model An IX pommel pistol, produced at the famous Manufacture Nationale de Charleville, in excellent condition for a weapon of this period. Perfectly marked lock, stamped with the inspector's mark "F". Round barrel, with sides at the thunner, hallmarked "RF" and "P", marked "M an 9", manufacture dated year 13 (1804-1805), i.e. at the very beginning of the First Empire under Napoleon I. All fittings (iron and brass) are well hallmarked and entirely original. The wood is in very good condition, with only one small discreet dent; the regulatory markings and inspector's marks are still clearly visible. Old and discreet repair on the hammer, typical of period maintenance, visible in the photos. Perfectly functional mechanism with well-tensioned springs. Original ramrod, slightly thinned in the middle. A historical transitional weapon between the Revolution and the Empire, produced at the time when Napoleon acceded to the imperial throne. An IX pistols, widely used by the light cavalry and the dragoons, are increasingly rare in this condition. Dimensions: Total length: 34.9 cm Internal diameter of the muzzle: 17.4 mm External diameter: 20.9 mm A beautiful authentic example, essential for any collector of antique First Empire weapons or historical military objects.
