Glazed porcelain figurine with a circular base, decorated with openwork elements and Rococo-inspired motifs enhanced with touches of gold, representing a bearded, half-naked male figure, standing, wearing a purple and white cloak, accompanied by a monster that is half-horse, half-fish. The figure is the classical god Poseidon or Neptune, and the creature is known as a seahorse. This type of work is common in several major porcelain factories throughout the 19th century, notably Meissen, but also Chelsea (whose mark is an anchor) or Samson, for example. -
