Rare processional banner in embroidered silk and painting on canvas depicting Saint Therese of the Child Jesus. French work circa 1900, richly decorated with fleurs-de-lis and roses in gold thread, original gold fringes.

Description

The background of the banner is in white silk damask with floral motifs. The central image is hand-painted on canvas, framed with a gold braid. It shows Saint Therese in her Carmelite habit, carrying a cross and roses, characteristic symbols of her spirituality. The banner is richly decorated with applied embroidery: Fleur-de-lis and roses in gold thread on each panel, Lower fringe in twisted gold thread, Suspension rings at the top to attach it to a processional pole.

Very good condition for its age. Some slight marks of time on the painting (see photos), embroidery in very good condition, very clean silk background.
