Object description :

"Royal Navy Blue Squadron Off A Mediterranean Port Cornelis Wieringen"
Royal Navy Blue Squadron off a Mediterranean Port, early 17th centurySchool of Cornelis Claesz van Wieringen (1573-1633)Large 17th-century scene depicting the Royal Navy's Blue Squadron off a Mediterranean fort, oil on canvas. An important early depiction of the Royal Navy during its expansion, of excellent quality, in which a ship fires the morning gun off a Mediterranean fortification under the British flag. The style is very close to the works of the maritime painter Wieringen. Presented in a fine antique gilt frame.
