"Antique Sauceboat With Lid And Ladle In Villeroy & Boch Earthenware."
Manufactured by the German company Villeroy & Boch in faïence decorated with simple red borders, as was fashionable in the late 19th century (the Richard company also produced a tableware set very similar in materials and colors), this sauceboat with a connected underplate, lid, and small ladle is in relatively good condition.
Faïence typically "ages" by yellowing and forming cracks beneath the glaze. A noticeable defect is a "hairline" inside the small ladle (see the last photo).
