Louis Ferdinand Malespine known as Malespina, 1874-1949, French painter, illustrator and sculptor born in Saint-Nicolas-de-Port. He was a student of Jules Larcher at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Nancy and of Fernand Cormon and Edouard Detaille at the Académie in Paris. He debuted at the Salon de Nancy in 1898 and appeared at the Salon de Paris from 1900 where he presented military scenes, cavalry charges and battle scenes until 1914 (Mentions in 1910 and 1911). But it was with the Horse Racing scenes that he found success and won a Gold Medal at the 1925 Salon. His works were part of the artistic competitions of the Summer Olympic Games of 1928 and 1932. He died in Paris on August 16, 1949. Artist listed in Bénézit, Coté Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
