Cartel De Dutertre, Golden Bronze, Around 1770-1780

Small alcove cartel in ormolu and enamel movement of dial signed "Charles Dutertre, watchmaker in Paris," Louis XVI. The cartel has a box of a shape drawn by Delafosse Osmond or 1770 and then reinterpreted by many decorators and bronze workers of the extreme end of the era of Louis XV and Louis XVI. The upper part consists of a neoclassical wrapped a supporting Ring acanthus falling over a framed lion mask laurel garlands encircling the dial (missing the minute hand). Below the dial alcove cartel join laurel garlands festoon. They detach a perforated bottom mosaics browsing the sides of the body to better suggest the two stamps of the draw. Our alcove cartel retains a beautiful old mercury gilding, carving has a fine and beautiful burnished bronze highlighting the fund. Charles Dutertre is a great asset watchmaker during the second half of the eighteenth century. He spends the Masters in 1758 and works with his father in the workshop of the Quai de l'Ecole. Charles-Nicolas is the son of Nicolas-Charles Dutertre and the grand-son of Jean Batiste First. His father already used crates Goyer, bronzes A. Foullet, Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain and Osmond.
