An oil on canvas depicting a priest, the back is written "painted after his death in Paris in September 1890". Large format. Beautiful painting technique in flesh and drapery.
The priest sat in an interior whose window opens to a religious building. He carries on his lap his black a "barrette", ecclesiactic hat. The flap hiding the cut of the cassock and the black color of the latter confirms that he is a priest. The red scarf only worn by priests symbolizes the burden of the gospel that must be on his shoulders.
