"Cruche Buire Jarre Vals de Saône Art Populaire 18-19éme"
Turned pottery jug, used in the Bresse, Vals de Saône and Lyon regions. These potteries could have been made, according to the latest discoveries of researchers, in the Givors region. This type of rustic pottery produced in the 18th and 19th century is decorated on a red-brown to brown barolet background with yellow patterns of flowers, inverted spirals... They are generally varnished, on top of the decoration, only on part of the body.
We see them in the various museums of the Rhône-Rhône regions. Alps, Burgundy, Franche-Comté. The jug is sold "in its own juice", its particular decoration and its rusticity accepts the defects due to its use by several generations.
A collection of around forty other decorated jugs, of different sizes , is also available (visible on site at the store, no detailed photos currently available...)
