Very nice lead sculpture of the head of an animal, it is a mask from a fountain dégueuloir seventeenth century, Louis XIV. Very good original condition and beautiful brown patina. Presented on a sober black metal stand to place it on a piece of furniture. In architecture, a mask (just the Mascharone Italian buffoonery) is generally an ornament representing a sometimes frightening human figure whose apotropaic function was originally to ward off evil spirits so they do not enter the House.
