"Romantic Landscape With Ruins"
In the first part of the nineteenth century appeared in landscape painting a current that was no longer neoclassical, but not romantic. Illustrated by Masters such Michallon, Dunouy, Demarne, Taunay, etc., it includes reminiscences of classical painting of the great age of Poussin to a more intellectual vision, or rather more perfect landscape. Here we have an oil on panel 16,5 x 23,5 cm, dressed in her beautiful original frame with palm leaves gilding slightly increased 25.5 X 32.5 cm, showing us two women laden with baskets walking in the company of a dog in the ruins of an arch, one showing the other a shepherd and his flock away. The typical treatment in small very fine touches and accurate a material rich in oil and glaze indicates the hand of a master. Some rubbed due to the lower left frame, yellow varnish, otherwise in very good condition. More pictures and many other items in our shops in Pau and Biarritz and on our website: galerielhoste.com.
