Cartel alcove chime, horn red rhino tinted, gilded bronze, enamel, circa 1730-1740. Sun (H x W x D). 104 x 41 x 21 cm This alcove cartel has a cash violonnée form. It is plated rhino horn, and emphasized contours of ormolu rockery. The drum is topped with a dome whose shape is a legacy of Louis XIV vocabulary. This dome is surmounted by an ornate rococo vase. Along the edges of the box are placed sinuous golden ornaments, staples compounds and acanthus leaves. The fund is based on console feet covered leaves. The underside of the dial is beautifully crafted with an asymmetrical floral cartridge of a very pronounced rococo taste, typical of 1730s Dial The dial of the movement, no name, consists of individual plates indicating hours and minutes, to make ormolu.
